December 28, 1930, Juanita Burns claimed a new world altitude record for women followingin a three hour flight at Los Angeles. Her plane continued to climb for half an hour after her altimeter stopped at approximately 26,000 feet. Fellow pilot Elinor Smith set the women's official world altitude record of 27,418 feet on a flight in which she lost consciousness. She claimed 30,000 feet. Juanita planned a transatlantic flight but was unable to raise the funds. She poses with her trademark logo and her stuffed 'copilot'. Great conversation piece! Double matted - 9" x 12"
