Lobby Card reproduction
This is a lobby card from the 1952 movie starring Raph Richardson, Ann Todd, Nigel Patrick, and Dinah Sheridan. The history of jet aviation is intertwined with an intensely personal fictional story. Richardson plays a wealthy aircraft manufacturer, stubbornly determined to develop a jet airplane that will travel faster than the speed of sound. Richardson's seemingly cavalier attitude toward the pilots who have died on behalf of his dream - including his own son - has turned his daughter against him. When the daughter's fighter-pilot husband agrees to test Richardson's jet, he too loses his life. The daughter walks out of her father's life and sets up residence with the wife of another pilot. Richardson approaches this pilot as well with his challenge - and this time the sound barrier is successfully broken without anyone being killed. The first independent project of director David Lean, the film was a huge success. Double matted14" x 17"; image is approx. 12.75" x 9.75"
